Brazilian Imperial Topaz-
Ref TS
We have
been approached by a large mining consortium in Ouro Preto to possibly
handle some of their rough
Imperial Topaz. Now, since I will confess I know very little about the
prices and grades of the Brazilian Topaz
I have set the following samples out as the miners have graded as well
as using their suggested price per carat.
These stones are not mine, they are sold on consignment but I would
really welcome any constructive views and
criticism (if any) on the grading and prices. If these stones prove
popular, we will be stocking them.
Grading by color, the best colors (with slight pink hues) are # 1, 2,
3, whilst the lightest yellow colors are #15, 16, 17
Please note, these stones are all natural, all from Ouro Preto, no enhancement,
oiling etc. They are direct from the mine

Please
note - If you are viewing the website using
a laptop computer, (apart from the Apple laptop), the colors portrayed
are very poor. I have found this to be the norm after checking numerous
lap tops. The older desktop screens still
seem to give the most accurate colors, so, when ordering, please read the
descriptions of the stones. It will help
you somewhat with the colors and your decisions regarding purchase.

Tourmaline
Ref WN-1
This outstanding specimen measures
55mm x 22.5mm x 21.5 mm and was discovered, in 1968,at the famous
Alto Ligonha deposits in Mozambique.
The
largest, clear, blue section is on the right of the crystal and
is roughly 16mm in length x 22.5mm x 21.5mm. This would cut a
stunning cushion.
Smaller, clear areas are found throughout the crystal. The
stone weighs 327.35 cts and is offered at $4910.00, that is, $15.00
per ct
sold

Aquamarine
Ref MA-1
This superb Aquamarine measures roughly
31mm high x 31mm wide (at base of photo) x 21 mm deep and would cut
a stunning trilliant design.
It
is graded AAA and is a strong blue-green color. It is of Mozambique
origin and one of the largest pieces we have had for some time.
The
stone weighs 104.70 cts and is offered at $4188.00, that is, $40.00
per ct
sold |

Sapphire
Ref MA-2
This
beautiful
Madagascan stone measures roughly 12mm x 13mm x 7mm deep and comes
from the new Sapphire deposit in the south of the country.
The two photos show both the front and the back of the stone - please
note there is an indentation on the back which will limit your style
of cutting to some extent. There is a very slight flaw close to one
side, otherwise the stone is graded AA+
The stone weighs
15.01 cts and is offered at $2251.00, that is, $170.00 per ct
sold

Emerald
Ref MZ-1
This very unusual stone measures 30mm
in length, 20mm at its maximum width and 8.5 mm thick. It was found
in the Marropino district of Mozambique and was one of the largest
stones found in that area.
It shows a medium-light green color, a little similar to the Columbian
stones.
Veils of bubbles are visible and one fracture roughly 2/3 down the
side of the stone. I would suggest cutting one really large gem and
possibly, two smaller stones
The
stone weighs 48.59 ct and is offered at $2187.00, that is, $45.00
per ct |

Tourmaline
Ref AF-1
A very attractive single stone from
Afghanistan, showing graduation of color from light to dark green.
It measures 15mm x 14mm x 25mm in length. The stone does show some
'silk' inclusions in the darker section of the crystal but cut a most
impressive gem
The
stone weighs 62.40 cts and is offered at $2184.00, that is, $35.00
per ct |

 |
Tourmaline
Ref TN-3
A
very attractive single stone showing a superb, rich, strong, pink-purple
color. The material is direct from the mine and has not yet been cleaned.
The color is beautiful and the rough comes from the new area being mined
in Nigeria. This is a large gem, and is exceptionally clean for its
size. It is rated AA+ having just a few faults at the edges which would
be removed on preforming and should result in an AAA grade gem. Definitely
an excellent investment gem,
The stone has a weight of 54.07 cts and is priced at $1298.00 for the
stone.
That means a cost of just $24.00 per ct!
Now beat that for value!!

Citrine
Ref CT
This rich, reddish-yellow Madeira Citrine
is always a favorite with the cutters.
These stones were all hand-selected by myself and are graded as AAA
in clarity. This rough always cuts superbly and is excellent for matched
gems.
Just 10 parcels in all, so, again, if you are interested, let me know
soonest.
The parcels consist
of 2 stones, with a total parcel weight between 20.00 ct-21.00 cts and
are priced at $52.50 per parcel |

|
Amethyst Ref AM
The
Uruguayan Amethyst is another firm favorite with our clients, and, again,
these stones were hand-selected my myself. The color is a rich purple
and the rough lends itself to cutting matched, smaller gems.
10 parcels on offer and I still have some in stock, so, no hurry for
this one!
The parcels consist
of 4 stones, with a total parcel weight between 29.00 ct-30.00 cts and
are priced at $45.00 per parcel
