Tanzanites- please remember that the stones we offer are natural blue colors and none of this material has been heat-treated in any way, and, are NOT likely to change any further on heat treatment.
The majority of cut Tanzanites seen today are heat-treated stones , produced from heating a natural brownish-yellow colored rough. This rough WILL change to the beautiful richer blue-purple colors Tanzanite is generally known for. However, there is a small segment of Tanzanites which show the natural blue-purple-turquoise color combinations, rarely seen in jewelry. It is often possible to combine all three colors in the cut stone. This unique, natural material is what we offer.
Although these stones do not show as strong a color as their heat-treated cousins, I, personally, rather like them. They are unique and definitely of interest to the purist. Tanzanite is known as a 'triclinic' mineral, that is, it shows three separate colors which are often quite distinct from each other
Please note - If you are viewing the website using a laptop computer, (apart from the Apple laptop), the colors
portrayed are very poor. I have found this to be the norm after checking numerous lap tops. The older desktop
screens still seem to give the most accurate colors, so, when ordering, please read the descriptions of the stones.
It will help you somewhat with the colors and your decisions regarding purchase.

New to the Zircon plate are a number of light pink/brown stones from Mozambique. This is the first time we have had this material, and, they are all natural colors. Unlike the stones from Tanzania, the Mozambique material has NOT been heat-treated.
The Tanzanian Zircons on offer vary in color from a clear colorless white stone, through to a light yellow and then down to a pink/maroon/brown and even purple-pink colors. These last are difficult to describe color-wise as the stone being dichroic, does show a 'mix' of colors. Please note that the Zircons from Tanzania have been heat-treated to obtain these colors.
A great gem to cut with a very high refractive index and ease of polishing.
